Hi, I’m Miranda. I’m a trans woman and a poet.

Welcome to my poetry page. I share one (or more) original poems each week and two poems I’ve chosen from the public domain (under current U.S. copyright laws, that includes poems published prior to January 1, 1930) along with some brief notes about my poem selections. Each poem is accompanied by a video of my reading. Videos are crossposted on YouTube, and audio is available on Apple Podcasts and Overcast.

The Transgender Community of Police & Sheriffs; also known as TCOPS International, is primarily a peer-support group. We educate law enforcement executives, public safety organizations, supervisors, and co-workers on issues relating to gender identity and the gender transition of a colleague.
TCOPS was born out of the efforts of a research study by Dr. Thomas Whetstone at Southern Police Institute, about the incidence and experiences of “transsexual” (transgender) law enforcement officers working in a law enforcement environment. This study began in about 1998 and concluded the following year. Dr. Whetstone’s work brought together LEOs from around the world, to discuss their personal and professional experiences with gender identity issues, inside of their chosen profession.

Because you enjoy walking the fine line between genius and madness. Because you like your commentary sharp, your satire spicy, and your inbox filled with words that might get me banned from polite society. Subscribe to get full access to the newsletter and publication archives.

After a lifetime spent in academia, cinema, public office and environmental activism, I have retired into the italian countryside, from where I work as a freelance writer & astrologer.

I have finished a book on poetry, currently working on 3 novels and 2 essay books. My Substack publications freely delve into world politics and their unlikely connections with art, history, philosophy and pop culture.

I made my first jewelry in 1990. My early pieces were built using chain mail. I began using beads and working with silver in 1998. In 2012, I began my journey in glass. I hold a Bachelor’s in Social Science Education and a Master’s in Special Education from the University of Georgia. I also hold a Specialist degree in Social Science Education from Georgia College and State University. My background in social science and education has left me with a desire to share my knowledge and skills as an artist and have informed my research as a historical bead maker, glass worker, and jewelry designer.
