Physical Setting & Preparation

Find a place where you can sit or stand near a window or outside, where the morning light of early spring can touch your skin. If possible, bring a small bowl of water to represent the life-giving spring rains, and a green plant or fresh spring flowers to symbolize new growth. Remove your shoes to feel direct contact with the earth beneath you. Place your hands palms up on your thighs, and take seven slow, deep breaths, feeling the growing vitality of spring entering your body with each inhalation

Opening Invocation | Fosgladh

Fàilte ort, a' seachdamh là fichead de Mhàrt, là de sholais earraich.(Welcome to you, twenty-seventh day of March, a day of spring light.)

A' Mhàthair Talamh, tha mi a' faireachadh do bheatha a' dùsgadh.(Mother Earth, I feel your life awakening.)

Mar a tha a' ghrian ag èirigh nas àirde, tha mo spiorad ag èirigh cuide rithe.(As the sun rises higher, my spirit rises with it.)

Close your eyes and visualize the landscape around you transforming. See the buds on the trees swelling, preparing to unfurl their leaves. Feel the ground beneath you softening after winter's hardness. Hear the birds that have returned, singing their songs of territory and courtship. The air carries the scent of soil warming in the strengthening sun. Your body is part of this living system, this web of awakening life.

Body of the Working | Corp

Air an là seo, tha mi a' faireachadh aoibhneas an earraich nam chridhe.(On this day, I feel the joy of spring in my heart.)

Mar a tha na flùraichean a' briseadh tron talamh, tha aoibhneas a' briseadh trom inntinn.(As flowers break through the earth, joy breaks through my mind.)

A' Mhàthair Talamh, cuidich leam gabhail ris an aoibhneas seo.(Mother Earth, help me embrace this joy.)

Touch the water in your bowl, feeling its cool vitality against your fingertips. This is the same water that falls as rain, that flows in streams, that rises as mist in the morning light. Water that brings life to all growing things.

Visualize yourself standing in a sunlit forest clearing. The trees around you are dressed in the pale green haze of new leaves. Wildflowers dot the forest floor in patches of white, yellow, and purple. The sun streams through the canopy in golden shafts. Birds call from branch to branch.

Allow joy to rise naturally within you, like sap rising in the trees. Feel it beginning in your roots, your feet connected to the earth, and moving upward through your body until it fills your chest, your throat, your head. This is not a joy dependent on circumstances, but the natural joy of being alive, of being part of the great cycle of seasons.

The Deep Working | An Obair Dhomhain

A Mhàthair Talamh, tha thu a' teagasg dhomh aoibhneas tro shamhla an earraich.(Mother Earth, you teach me joy through the symbol of spring.)

Chan eil an t-earrach a' faighneachd am bi e ann, tha e dìreach a' tighinn.(Spring does not ask if it will exist, it simply comes.)

Mar sin, tha aoibhneas a' tighinn gun iarraidh nuair a leigeam leis.(Thus, joy comes unbidden when I allow it.)

Breathe deeply, imagining that with each breath you are drawing in the vitality of spring. Feel the Mother of the Earth supporting you, her energy flowing upward through your body. She has seen countless winters and springs, countless cycles of dormancy and growth.

Place your hands on your heart. Feel the steady rhythm of your heartbeat, one with the pulse of the awakening earth. Allow your heart to expand with the natural joy of being. This joy requires no reason, no justification. It is your birthright as a living being.

Visualize a small seed of joy within your heart, nurtured by the Mother Earth. Watch as it sprouts, sending roots downward into your being and shoots upward. See it unfurling leaves, growing stronger, finally blossoming into a radiant flower within you. This joy is not separate from you; it is part of your true nature.

Afterthought | Smuain Dheiridh

Take a moment to contemplate:

How might I nurture this natural joy in my daily life? What habits or thoughts might be preventing the full blossoming of joy within me, like stones that need to be cleared from fertile soil?

Closing Blessing | Beannachd Dheiridh

A Mhàthair Talamh, taing dhut airson tiodhlac an aoibhneis.(Mother Earth, thank you for the gift of joy.)

Cuidich leam cuimhneachadh gu bheil aoibhneas nam nàdar fhèin.(Help me remember that joy is in my own nature.)

Mar a tha an t-earrach a' tilleadh gach bliadhna, mar sin biodh aoibhneas a' tilleadh thugam.(As spring returns each year, so may joy return to me.)

Gun robh beannachd na Màthar còmhla rium, an-diugh agus gach latha.(May the blessing of the Mother be with me, today and every day.)

Gradually return your awareness to your surroundings. Feel the ground solid beneath you. Listen to the sounds around you. When you are ready, open your eyes, carrying the natural joy of spring within your heart as you move through your day.
