Meditation of Future Light
Candlemas Vision - February 2nd
Physical Setting
Create a space with two candles - one white (representing the remaining winter) and one green (representing the coming spring). If possible, position yourself where you can observe both shadow and light. Have a mirror or bowl of dark water nearby for scrying.
Opening
[Find yourself standing in a sacred grove at dawn. The air is crystal clear, and your breath forms clouds of possibility before you. Long shadows stretch across snow-touched ground, each one holding a story of what may come.]
Màthair na Fàisneachd, fosgail mo shealladhMother of Prophecy, open my sight
Mar a dh'fhosglas an lathaAs the day opens
[Watch as the rising sun creates rainbow prisms in ice crystals hanging from bare branches, each one a window into possibility.]
Leig dhomh faicinn le gliocasLet me see with wisdom
Body
[Feel yourself walking to an ancient stone well, its surface like polished obsidian. The waters within shift between ice and liquid, creating ever-changing patterns.]
Tha mi coimhead tro sgàthanI look through the mirror
De dh'uisge is de shamhladhOf water and vision
[Above you, the branches of sacred trees weave patterns against the sky, casting shadows that dance with meaning on the snow.]
Mar a shiùbhlas na sgàileanAs the shadows travel
Mar a ghluaiseas an solusAs the light moves
[See the well's surface begin to ripple with images - some clear, some mysterious, all part of the unfolding year.]
Tha gach sealladh a' teagasgEach vision teaches
A' fosgladh mo thuigseOpening my understanding
Mar ghealach a' fàs lànLike a moon growing full
Closing
[As the sun climbs higher, watch how shadows and light create perfect balance, showing both what is hidden and what is revealed.]
Màthair, soillsich an t-sligheMother, illuminate the path
[Feel yourself gathering wisdom from both the bright and dark places of vision.]
Dèan mo shùilean geurMake my eyes keen
Is mo chridhe tuigseachAnd my heart understanding
[Know that you carry both shadow and light within, each offering its own kind of sight.]
Airson na tha ri teachdFor what is to come
Afterthought
As you carry these visions forward, consider:
What shadows in your life might actually be gifts of insight? What lights might need tempering with wisdom's shade?
Remember: As the Candlemas day balances between winter's wisdom and spring's promise, so too must we balance what we see clearly with what remains beautifully mysterious.
